Every patient needs a GP referral to see one of our specialists
FOR ACC CASES
Please see information on this website (Information for GPs) regarding the ACC requirements including the need for a Case Manager, an ACC service code (MSDA1 or MSDA2) and a Purchase Order number raised by the Case Manager. We can not see ACC cases without these.
THE PROCESS
Patients are encouraged to call Auckland Medical Specialists once they know from their referring doctor that they need an appointment, and who they need the appointment with.
We can book the patient without the referral in the system but need the referral as soon as possible. The Neurologists like to read the referrals in advance of the appointment and if changes need to be made, these can be seen to immediately.
Once we have the referral in our system the patient can be added to a cancellation list if an earlier appointment becomes available.
If your patient is non-English speaking or has trouble understanding English, please advise them to bring a translator with them or someone who can speak on their behalf. We do not provide translators at Auckland Medical Specialists.
